You should hire a professional to help you with the website design for your website. There is some software that can help you with the basics of website design but it will not help you to be able to have your website stand out from the sea of other websites that are found online.
Don’t use too many different fonts or text colors on your web pages. Word processing or web authoring software may present a dizzying array of specialty fonts or wacky colors, but if you use too many, the text on your website may become unreadable. A good practice is to use just one or two fonts per page and avoid excessive use of bold or italic text.
Keep user interface tools consistent and user friendly. Keep all underlined text clickable and allow for a change of color of links already clicked. If your site is user friendly and consistent throughout all the pages, people will be more likely to remain on your site for longer periods, as well as visit your site more than once.
Design a clear navigational path for your visitors to follow. Make important links easy to see, provide menus on either side of the page, and use those links and menus to connect to as many pages of your site as possible. This will make it easy for your visitors to find what they are looking for right from the first page.
Test your website in the most popular browsers and platforms to make sure that it displays correctly. Sometimes scripts that work in one browser may not produce the same results in another browser. So you may need take extra measures, like adding a function for browser detection, in order to ensure that your website will display properly under most conditions.
Do not depend on free web hosting if you are creating a commercial site. You are much better off spending money on basic web hosting, which will prevent your site from being clogged by advertisements that you cannot control. Furthermore, free web hosting might not provide you with enough bandwidth to support the kind of traffic your site may see.
To help make your website more attractive, incorporate some pictures that you took. Having pictures on your website gives a more user-friendly approach to your site. When people see pictures they tend to spend more time looking at your site and cannot wait to click on the next picture.
Now that I’ve been designing websites for over a decade, I feel that I can give some advice back. Use the website design tips in this article, continue learning as much as you can, and stay on top of trends to ensure your websites stand out in the crowd. If I can do it, anyone can!
